MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (AP) - The former director of the Marshalltown Convention & Visitors Bureau has been given probation and a fine for embezzling from the organization.

The Marshalltown Times-Republican reports (https://bit.ly/2adFHgS ) that 44-year-old Shannon Espenscheid was told at her sentencing hearing Monday that she must serve two to five years of probation and pay a $1,000 fine. The amount of restitution she also must pay hasn’t been determined yet. She’d pleaded guilty to a felony theft charge.

Police say Espenscheid made at least $10,000 in personal purchases with a bureau business credit card.
