WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Part of Interstate 84 in Connecticut was temporarily closed after a van carrying swimming pool chemicals caught on fire.

WFSB-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2arkrkh) the van caught fire around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday near exit 44 in West Hartford. The van was carrying chlorine. No injuries were reported.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responded to the scene.

DEEP determined most of the chemicals were destroyed in the fire but that Trout Brook was impacted by runoff. DEEP says firefighters flushed Trout Brook with water to dilute the chlorine.

I-84 eastbound was closed between exits 43 and 44 until about 1:30 p.m.

The incident remains under investigation.
