MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Republican Sen. Ron Johnson is targeting his Democratic opponent Russ Feingold from a national stage during his prime-time speech at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

Johnson’s speech Tuesday evening echoes a campaign ad he released earlier in the day that aims to portray Feingold as weak on national security.

Like in the ad, Johnson lists a series of attacks in recent weeks across the world and criticizes Feingold’s votes on security during his 18 years in the Senate. In his speech, Johnson also lumps presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in with Feingold, saying “the world is simply too dangerous to elect either of them.”

The speech has little focus on presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump, who Johnson has said he supports but does not endorse.
