DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a man has been hospitalized after being shot by police in Davenport.

The Davenport Police Department says officers were sent around 11:40 p.m. Monday to check a report about shots being fired. The department says the officers saw a vehicle racing away from the area and then tried to stop the vehicle in a parking lot. The department says two officers fired at the vehicle when it rammed a police cruiser. The vehicle later was found empty.

Police say the man identified as the driver of the vehicle went to Genesis Medical Center about an hour later for treatment of a gunshot wound.

The names of those involved have not been released.
