OLIVER SPRINGS, Tenn. (AP) - An Oliver Springs couple has been indicted on a misdemeanor charge after an infant boy was killed when his sleeping mother rolled on top of him.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reports (https://bit.ly/29P32lP) Anderson County grand jurors considered two different murder charges against 26-year-old Samantha Yarborough and 28-year-old Nathaniel T. Johnson before indicting them for misdemeanor reckless endangerment.

Records show the infant died earlier this year after Yarborough rolled on top of him as she slept.

A police report says Yarborough and Johnson had received “safe sleep counseling” during a Tennessee Department of Children’s Services home visit four days before the child died.

The misdemeanor charge accuses the couple of recklessly engaging in conduct that placed the baby in danger.

It’s unclear if Yarborough or Johnson has an attorney.
