PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say five teenage boys are in custody after being arrested following multiple armed robberies.

Officer James Holmes says officers arrested the five youths after spotting a pickup matching the description of a suspect vehicle from three robberies reported Tuesday morning.

Holmes says all five suspects ran from the truck but police immediately apprehended two of them. Officers then found three more hiding in trash cans in the rear yard of a home about an hour later.

According to Holmes, a police dog bit one of those three youths when he refused to comply with police commands.

Holmes says the three are suspected of at least five armed robberies and that the number of may rise as high as seven.
