ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Plans call for an $85.2 million renovation of the Michigan Union.

The Ann Arbor News reports (https://bit.ly/2a8PFgB ) the University of Michigan’s Board of Regents is scheduled to vote Thursday on the plans.

The renovation would create social space on the main level of the building by enclosing the courtyard; expand and improve lounge and study spaces; create more-useful space for student organizations; and make room for counseling and student support services.

Other improvements to the building are planned, including roof replacement.

The Michigan Union currently is undergoing $1.4 million in repairs to deteriorated exterior walls, including brick and stone repair.
