BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a teen was shot and another was wounded by a machete in an attack on Long Island.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/29KdjPb ) the attack occurred just after midnight Monday in Brentwood. Investigators say a 19-year-old man was shot in the leg, taken to a hospital and later released.

Police say a 17-year-old boy fell while trying to flee from the shooting and was struck in the face multiple times with a machete. He was taken to a hospital, where police say he was scheduled for surgery. His condition wasn’t known.

The two victims were among a group standing in front of a home when police say three men approached and attacked them.

No arrests have been made.
