LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police say the body of a woman found at the beach in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area is being investigated as a homicide because there were obvious signs of trauma.

Las Vegas police said Tuesday that the body was found about 8 a.m. Monday at Boulder Beach.

The woman was dead with obvious signs of trauma but police said it appears to be an isolated incident.

Parks spokeswoman Christie Vanover said the investigation on Monday shut down the middle section of the popular beach area that is used for special events but that the rest of the park stayed open.

The Clark County Coroner’s office hasn’t identified the woman.
