DUQUESNE, Pa. (AP) - A county fire marshal was investigating a blaze that forced the evacuation of an apartment building near Pittsburgh.

Allegheny County officials say the fire began in a first-floor unit of the Laurel Building of the Hilltop Parkview Manor Apartments in Duquesne. It was not immediately clear how many people lived in the building, which is part of a complex for low-income tenants.

The fire was reported shortly after 10:30 a.m.

Two firefighters were taken to hospitals for heat-related issues and one civilian was treated at the fire scene for a breathing-related problem, but didn’t want to go to a hospital.

Some residents complained to reporters that fire hydrants didn’t work. County spokeswoman Amy Downs says the hydrants near the building worked, but have low pressure because the complex is in one of the highest locations in Duquesne.
