LYMAN, S.C. (AP) - The body of a Spartanburg County teen has been pulled from a lake in Lyman.

Sheriff Chuck Wright and Coroner Rusty Clevenger told local media outlets that the body of 16-year-old Markell Tyquann Nesbitt of Lyman was found Monday afternoon.

Wright said the Byrnes High School football player and his friends were having a “swimming party” in the lake when Nesbitt went under the water and did not resurface.

The sheriff said there was no sign of foul play.

Counselors were at the school to help students deal with the drowning.
