PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) - Officials have confirmed that Wentworth-Douglass Hospital plans to open a new medical office at the Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth this fall.

Dawn Fernald, Wentworth-Douglass’ director of marketing and public relations, tells The Portsmouth Herald (https://bit.ly/29SaMVp ) that the Dover-based hospital decided to open the office to better serve its growing number of patients.

The new facility, set to open in early October, won’t be a hospital. Fernald says the Corporate Drive location will instead offer “a mix of primary care and select specialty services.”

Pease Development Authority officials say Wentworth-Douglass purchased the space for $1.6 million. Renovations are being made to the building.

Wentworth-Douglass Health System and Massachusetts General Hospital announced in April that Wentworth-Douglass agreed to become part of Mass General and the Partners HealthCare System.
