WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP) - Two men have been ordered to stand trial on homicide and conspiracy in the May shooting that killed a woman authorities said was an innocent bystander and injured her friend.

The (Washington) Observer-Reporter (https://bit.ly/29aIrHn ) reports that a Washington County district judge ordered 18-year-old Tavian Hooper and 18-year-old Jamaal Greene held for trial in the death of 19-year-old Alexis Barnett. Authorities said she was walking with friends when she was killed in Washington, Pennsylvania, about 20 miles southwest of Pittsburgh.

Defense attorneys argued unsuccessfully that the charges should be dismissed due to lack of evidence.

Chief Public Defender Glenn Alterio said there was no evidence that Greene was present or conspired with Hooper. Defense attorney Ryan Tutera argued that the shooting could have been done by someone other than Hooper.
