GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) - A man accused of having shot another man to death in his friend’s driveway almost three years ago is scheduled for trial later this month.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (https://bit.ly/29dUi8W ) reports that 57-year-old Lee Atwood appeared in court Friday in Westmoreland County and attorneys indicated they are prepared for the scheduled July 11 trial.

Atwood is charged in the August 2013 slaying of 46-year-old George Williams in South Huntingdon Township. Police said the victim was shot in the back with a shotgun after an argument over a debt. Atwood was arrested near his home a few hours later. He has denied having fired the gun.

Atwood is accused in a separate case of offering a prison inmate $1,500 to kill a man who owns the home where the shooting occurred.
