OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Authorities say a 54-year-old woman has drowned in a southeastern Oklahoma pond.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Saturday that Sawyer resident Roxie R. Merriott’s body was recovered in about 3 feet of water by her husband. The Choctaw County pond is located on private property.

The patrol says Merriott left her house on Friday around 3:30 p.m. to walk to the pond and relax.

The victim’s husband became worried and went to check on Merriott about four hours later and found her in the water.

The patrol report says Merriott wasn’t wearing a life vest.
