DETROIT (AP) - Six people have been arrested after chaining themselves to a Detroit police station.

The event was a protest Wednesday against police violence on what would have been the 14th birthday of a girl who was accidentally killed during a raid in 2010.

Commander Elvin Barren says people have the right to protest, but the chaining was illegal. About 100 people marched to a police station from a Detroit park.

Aiyana Stanley-Jones was fatally shot while she slept on a couch. Elite officers had stormed the home looking for a murder suspect. Officer Joseph Weekley says he mistakenly pulled the trigger during a struggle with Aiyana’s grandmother.

Mertilla Jones denied any interference. A judge dismissed an involuntary manslaughter charge during a second trial.
