ALBANY, Ore. (AP) - Two counts of attempted murder have been filed against an Albany man accused of attacking his 79-year-old grandmother with a baseball bat and then trying to kill his father with a knife.

The Albany Democrat Herald reports (https://is.gd/gvaEta ) 34-year-old Shawn Oard was booked into the Linn County jail. Bail was set at $675,000.

Police say Oard broke into his grandmother’s house Tuesday, smashing glassware before forcing his way into a bedroom where the woman had barricaded herself. Oard allegedly beat her with a bat he ripped from her hands.

Officers say Oard then announced he was going to kill his father. He traveled to the RV park where his father lives, but the dad managed to fight him off.

The grandmother was taken to a hospital. Her condition is unknown, but she was able to speak with police.
