NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey man accused of strangling a woman in a bathtub and fatally shooting two people at another home but leaving several children unharmed has been indicted on felony murder charges.

Essex County prosecutors announced Wednesday that Jeffrey Holland also faces numerous other counts - including burglary, child endangerment and desecration of human remains - in the 17-count indictment handed up by a county grand jury.

Authorities have said the East Orange man began his rampage at the Newark apartment of Tiniquah Rouse, whom he had previously dated. The 21-year-old Rouse was found dead of suspected strangulation in her bathtub, and a 5-month-old boy was found safe in a closet. The child was not related to Holland.

The next day, Holland allegedly shot to death another woman he previously dated, 23-year-old Ashley Jones, with whom he had two children. Authorities said he also killed a man with whom Jones lived, 28-year-old Jarrell Marshall.

Holland and Jones had restraining orders filed against each other, officials have said.

Three young children, including two fathered by Holland, were in Jones’ Newark apartment at the time of the killings but were unharmed. Holland is the biological father of a 1-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy found in the home; a 3-year-old girl found there is the daughter of Marshall and another woman.

Holland was arrested three days later. He had pleaded not guilty to murder charges in February.
