HENNIKER, N.H. (AP) - The family of a 20-year-old New York man shot in the elbow by a Henniker police officer is moving ahead with a lawsuit he filed against the New Hampshire town before his death.

The Concord Monitor reports (https://bit.ly/2a0q7DK ) Aaron Cadman was seeking $5 million in damages in a lawsuit that claimed he suffered emotional and physical injuries as a result of the actions of Officer Stephen Dennis on Nov. 26, 2014.

The suit was filed in May in federal court in Concord. It named Dennis, the Henniker Police Department and the town as defendants.

George Campbell III, Cadman’s attorney, says his client died of a drug overdose on June 21. Campbell plans to file a motion to substitute Cadman’s name for his estate as the plaintiff in the lawsuit.
