GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - Formal charges are pending against a man who authorities say led Grand Forks police on a chase that ended when he crashed his sport utility vehicle into a business.

The chase began shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday when an officer tried to stop the SUV for allegedly driving recklessly. Police say the driver fled, lost control and crashed through a cinderblock wall at A & L Siding and Home Improvement.

Authorities say the man then tried to flee on foot but was caught and arrested on several charges including fleeing and driving under the influence. The 36-year-old man’s last known address is Phoenix.

A female passenger in the SUV was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries after being extricated from the vehicle by firefighters.
