NEW YORK (AP) - A driver who plowed into a Manhattan flower stand while he was high on drugs in 2013 has been convicted of murder and other charges.

District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. announced the conviction of Shaun Martin on Wednesday.

Martin was high on PCP and methamphetamines when he sped along an East Village street at 50 mph.

He cut across three lanes of traffic, drove onto the sidewalk, and struck a fire hydrant, pay phone, muni-meter and tree. The car then crashed into a flower stand attached to the East Village Farm and Grocery Store.

Store worker Mohammed Akkas Ali died. Two other workers were seriously injured by the car. A bicyclist also was hurt by debris.
