WASHINGTON (AP) - The Washington Nationals called up right-handed reliever Koda Glover and optioned starter Reynaldo Lopez to Triple-A Syracuse.

Glover is in the majors for the first time and is available for the Nationals’ game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night.

The 23-year-old was an eighth-round pick out of Oklahoma State in 2015 and enjoyed a rapid ascent through Washington’s system. Glover began this season with Class-A Potomac.

Lopez was sent back to Triple A after making his major league debut Tuesday against the Dodgers. Lopez got the loss, allowing six earned runs on 10 hits and struck out nine in 4 2/3 innings.

In selecting Glover’s contract from Syracuse, the Nationals designated lefty Nick Lee for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.
