NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) - Police have identified a 19-year-old man who died from an apparent drowning in a Rhode Island reservoir.

Police on Wednesday identified the victim as David Pinthiere, of Providence. Pinthiere’s body was pulled from the Slatersville Reservoir in North Smithfield just before 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Town police and fire responded to reports of a missing swimmer at the reservoir Tuesday evening.

Police say foul play is not suspected. An autopsy to determine cause of death is expected to be conducted Wednesday.

WPRI-TV reports Town Administrator Paulette Hamilton has issued a statement urging residents to not swim in the reservoir, calling it a “very deep and dangerous body of water.”
