SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Police say two people were injured after a car smashed into a building in South Kingstown.

It happened around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday. Police say a preliminary investigation suggests the vehicle passed over two lanes of traffic, went into the driveway of an auto sales store and continued into the side of the building.

The elderly driver was hospitalized with unknown injuries. A customer inside the store who was pinned by the car was airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital. His condition was also unknown.

Neither person was immediately identified. The investigation continues.
