PENNSVILLE, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey man is accused of fatally stabbing his wife to death in their apartment while their three children slept nearby.

Forty-six-year-old Nitin Singh was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder, aggravated assaulted and related offenses in the slaying of his 42-yea-rold wife, Seema.

Pennsville police were originally called to the home for a medical emergency. When emergency personnel arrived around 5:30 a.m., authorities say Singh was found covered with blood standing over his wife. Investigators say the victim had been stabbed in the face, chest and abdomen.

The couple has been longtime owners of the Quick Stop Deli in Collingswood.

Singh is being held at the Salem County Correctional Facility. It’s unclear if he has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
