MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) - Moncks Corner Rep. Sylleste Davis has won the special Republican primary for her seat.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported (https://bit.ly/29ZTZ2Z) that Davis got 73 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s primary, defeating Robbie Metts.

Davis had been sworn in June 8 to complete the term for former Rep. Eddy Southard, who resigned in April after allegations that he harassed a female page at the Statehouse.

Southard withdrew from his re-election bid June 8 and filing was reopened for the seat.

The district stretches from Moncks Corner to Summerville.

The results will be certified Wednesday.
