PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say one man is dead and another injured from stabbings that resulted in a nearby light rail station being closed during the Wednesday morning commute.

Police say the stabbings occurred during an early morning argument involving several people in a dirt lot near the station at 19th Avenue and Camelback Road.

One man died at the scene while a critically injured 22-year-old man was able to make it to the rail tracks at the station, while others ran off.

Police say one person has been detained and is being questioned by police.

Valley Metro is busing passengers from stations on either side of the closed segment.
