ROCKINGHAM, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont State Police barracks in Rockingham has officially closed.

WCAX-TV (https://bit.ly/29Zv7Iy ) reports that retired and current troopers gathered Tuesday to lower the flag as the barracks shut its doors for good.

A new barracks in Westminster will replace the Rockingham facility and a second one in West Brattleboro in southern Vermont.

The new facility includes an intelligence center and will increase the region’s evidence handling and dispatching.

The Valley News had reported that its opening was delayed due to issues with the project’s stormwater drainage plan and associated costs.

Capt. Rick Hopkins says the Brattleboro barracks is already moved into the new facility. Police say operations have already begun there. A grand opening is being planned for the near future.
