LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say the Las Vegas woman who was found at the beach in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area was stabbed to death.

The Clark County coroner’s office identified her on Wednesday as 61-year-old Kathleen Mary Ploutz.

Her body was found Monday with multiple stab wounds and cuts. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Vegas police citing the obvious signs of trauma are investigating the murder.

Officials said it appears to be an isolated incident but won’t say if an attack actually took place where she was found, in the middle section of the popular Boulder Beach area that is used for special events.

A national parks spokeswoman said Lake Mead remains open.
