WOODBRIDGE, N.J. (AP) - A woman charged with stabbing a man in Woodbridge has pleaded not guilty.

Amarlis Calderon made her initial court appearance Wednesday after she was charged Monday with stabbing an acquaintance to death after Pablo Caamano stopped to pick her up near the New Jersey Turnpike.

Superior Court Judge Alberto Rivas kept her bail at $575,000 and she was being held at Middlesex County Jail.

Calderon is also charged with hindering police, tampering with evidence and a weapons offense.

The northbound ramp of Interchange 12 of the turnpike was closed for much of Monday morning during the investigation.
