STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) - A former assistant high school basketball coach has pleaded not guilty to charges he tipped off an athlete who’s a suspect in a double shooting in Connecticut.

The Advocate (https://bit.ly/29Ne11P ) reports that 28-year-old Jose Amor entered the plea Tuesday in Stamford to hindering prosecution.

Police say Amor told one of his athletes that he was under investigation. The athlete is a suspect in a double shooting involving two youths in Stamford on May 28. The student has denied involvement. An arrest hasn’t been made in the shooting.

Police say phone records show the former Westhill High School coach had called the student, telling him to “be prepared for anything.”

Amor’s lawyer has requested for all evidence against his client to be preserved, saying the evidence will vindicate Amor.
