PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - A 26-year-old man has been convicted of drowning his baby daughter four years ago at a Pasadena apartment complex.

The Los Angeles Times reports (https://lat.ms/2a2K50z) Marquise Jackson was found guilty by a jury Wednesday of first-degree murder and child abuse.

One-year-old Mo’Nayjah Jackson was found unresponsive May 20, 2011 at the apartment belonging to the child’s mother. The girl’s mother was at work at the time.

Investigators said the death was considered suspicious from the outset. Jackson, a resident of Lancaster, was eventually arrested and during questioning he confessed.

At his sentencing on Aug. 12, he faces 25 years to life in state prison.
