DOVER, Del. (AP) - Police say a man under the influence of alcohol hit three people standing on a sidewalk in Dover, killing a 6-year-old girl.

Dover Police said in a statement Thursday that as 26-year-old David Randall pulled his Ford Focus into a space at a condominium complex Wednesday evening, the car sped forward onto the sidewalk. Police say the car hit 6-year-old Anya Jackson, her mother LeShell Wiles and a family friend, pinning the girl against a building.

The two others were treated for injuries that police say were not life-threatening.

Police say Randall has been charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and driving under the influence. It wasn’t clear if he has an attorney. The jail did not immediately return a telephone message.
