PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - Authorities say a woman whose body was removed from a house fire in Calloway County was shot twice with a shotgun before the fire was intentionally set.

According to The Paducah Sun (https://bit.ly/2axrkAD ), Kentucky State Police Detective Sgt. Kyle Nall said preliminary autopsy results show the death of 51-year-old Linda Whittenberg has been ruled a homicide.

Nall says Whittenberg’s body was pulled from a burning home Tuesday. Whittenberg, of Murray, was pronounced dead about 10 minutes after she was found. Nall said authorities believe the shooting and arson took place within a 20 minute period.

Officials say the body of a man was found in a garage behind the home. Preliminary autopsy results showed the man died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries. His death has been ruled an accident.
