PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) - Police in Portsmouth, Virginia, are investigating after they say two summer school students got off a school bus and fired guns as the bus drove away.

Media outlets report Churchland High summer school principal Ana-Maria Incorminias informed parents of Tuesday’s incident in a letter sent home Wednesday.

Incorminias says the two students had guns in their possession on the school bus. She says the students fired the weapons as the bus drove away.

No students or staff members were hurt. Police were notified of the incident.

Incorminias says the school conducted an investigation and disciplined those involved. She did not say what kind of discipline was imposed.

Portsmouth Police Detective Misty Holley says the incident is under investigation and charges are possible. It’s unclear what the students were firing at.
