PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Yavapai County officials say the area has had the most search and rescue operations statewide in the last several months.

The Arizona Division of Emergency Management announced recently that 22 percent of search-and-rescue incidents in fiscal year 2015-2016 occurred in Yavapai County.

That figure was the highest compared to other counties in the same time period.

Sheriff Scott Mascher says the data validates the more than 5,000 volunteer hours that search teams have given in the last year.

Verde Valley Search and Rescue and Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Air Group are among the organizations that volunteer assistance.
