SHEFFIELD, Iowa (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a 74-year-old woman whose body was found by firefighters in her north-central Iowa home.

Sheffield firefighters were dispatched to the blazing house just before 10 p.m. Sunday. They found the body after gaining control of the flames.

Sheffield Fire Chief Dan Fields says Delores Birdsell died of smoke inhalation.

Investigators suspect a smoldering cigarette ignited the fire, but the investigation is continuing.
