NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Police say a bicyclist suffered injuries when he was struck by a car and pinned beneath it in New Haven.

The 13-year-old boy was hit as he rode his bicycle into the center of an intersection. It happened around 8:15 p.m. Friday.

Police say there were no lights on the bicycle and the accident happened after dark. They say neighbors lifted the car enough to free the trapped boy.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries to his legs and an arm and internal bleeding. He is in stable condition and is expected to recover.

Authorities say the boy rode his bike into the path of a 24-year-old motorist who didn’t have a stop sign.
