PLEASANT VIEW, Utah (AP) - Authorities say a brush fire is threatening homes in the city of Pleasant View and officials are evacuating one neighborhood in the northern Utah city.

Utah State Forestry Jason Curry says the fire appears to be quickly evolving but had no immediate details Friday evening.

The Ogden Standard-Examiner reports (https://bit.ly/29UBgCK ) the fire was spotted around 5 p.m. Friday.

The newspaper reports at least one airplane is dropping fire retardant on the flames.

Details on the size of the fire and its proximity to homes were not immediately available.

Messages left with the Pleasant View fire and police departments were not immediately returned.

Weber County Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Lane Findlay says the sheriff’s office is not involved in the evacuation effort.

Pleasant View is about 45 miles north of Salt Lake City.
