EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - A 24-year-old Eugene man who attacked his father with a pair of knives last fall will be sent to the Oregon State Hospital after being found guilty but insane.

The Register-Guard reports (https://is.gd/yejvqF ) a Lane County judge issued the verdict after a brief trial in which Nicholas Wu did not contest the allegations.

The victim, gastroenterologist William Wu, suffered multiple injuries when his son stabbed and slashed him. He said in court that he and his wife love their son very much and look forward to his recovery.

Wu will be under the jurisdiction of the state Psychiatric Security Review Board for up to 20 years - a length of time equal to the maximum prison sentence he could have received on his assault conviction.
