BALTIMORE (AP) - More than $15.6 million in federal funding is being announced to support 11 AmeriCorps programs in Maryland and across the country.

Sen. Barbara Mikulski will visit the Living Classrooms Foundation in Baltimore for the announcement.

She will be joined by Living Classrooms Foundation president and CEO James Piper Bond. She also will be joined by Notre Dame Mission Volunteers associate director Adrienne Andrews.

AmeriCorps programs are administered by the Corporation for National and Community Services. The programs engage about 85,000 people each year at 21,000 locations across the country.
