FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Former North Dakota State University quarterback Carson Wentz has been honored for his excellence not on the field but in the classroom.

Wentz this week was named the NCAA Division I Academic All-American of the Year. He had a 4.0 grade point average in health and physical education at NDSU.

The award is given by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Wentz is preparing for training camp with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, who drafted him second overall.
