MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - A foster parent has been sentenced to 12 years and six months in prison for raping three girls in his care.

The Medford Mail Tribune reports (https://goo.gl/RZKQUR ) 54-year-old Samuel Hicks was scheduled to be taken to prison Friday after pleading guilty to two counts of rape and one count of sexual abuse involving two girls. He also pleaded no contest to sexual abuse against a third girl.

Court documents say Hicks was running a therapeutic foster home in Central Point when the crimes occurred between June 2012 and June 2014 involving a then 11-year-old and two 15-year-old girls.

Hicks was arrested in October 2014 after one of the girls told a friend of the abuse.
