BELLEVUE, Neb. (AP) - Deer hunters who want to hunt at Gifford Point Wildlife Management Area near Bellevue this year may apply for access permits until July 31.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will issue 200 permits. The area is closed to the use of rimfire and centerfire weapons. Muzzleloaders are not allowed during the November firearm season.

The permit allows access to take deer with a bow and arrow from Sept. 1 to Jan. 15 and with a muzzleloader from Dec. 1 to Jan. 15.

Application forms are available at the Game and Parks offices at Omaha, Lincoln, Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium and Schilling Wildlife Management Area. If more than 200 applications are received, a drawing will be held Aug. 3.
