BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Forecasters say a heat wave that’s making it dangerously hot across much of Alabama will continue through the weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory that takes effect Friday morning and lasts through 9 p.m. Saturday.

Temperatures are predicted to be in the mid- to upper 90s across a broad region extending from the state’s northwestern corner to its southeastern corner. Forecasters say the combination of high temperatures and humidity will make it feel like it’s as much as 107 degrees.

Prolonged exposure to excessive heat can lead to heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
