TUNICA, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating the death of an inmate at the Tunica County Detention Facility.

WREG-TV (https://bit.ly/2a6HjY0 ) reports 37-year-old Donald Clay was found dead in his cell Wednesday. He was arrested earlier that day on a domestic violence charge.

Asst. Chief Deputy Cedric Davis says Clay was placed in a holding cell and when officers checked on him later, he was dead.

Davis says emergency personnel treated Davis, but he could not be revived.

All deaths in the facility are first investigated as a homicide until proven otherwise.
