WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in Wilmington man have arrested a man who they say intentionally backed into a police cruiser and then fled the scene.

Wilmington Police Department spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay told local media outlets that 19-year-old Qua’jon Canty is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, careless and reckless driving and hit and run.

According to police, an officer spotted Canty driving recklessly, and after the officer stopped him, Canty put his car in reverse, hit the officer’s cruiser and drove off.

Lindsay said that at some point, Canty gave the car to a woman and he got into another car.

Canty was located and arrested shortly after. He is being held in the county jail under a $50,000, and it’s not known if he has an attorney.
