MECHANICSVILLE, Va. (AP) - The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says a Pennsylvania man who was driving a car that flipped over has been charged with shooting and killing a passenger in the car.

The department said in a news release that 64-year-old Willie J. Bibbs Sr. of Chambersburg was charged Thursday with first-degree murder in the death of 24-year-old Sharece Branche, also of Chambersburg.

Deputies say Branche’s 3-year-old daughter was in the car and was not hurt.

Authorities say the crash occurred Thursday afternoon in Mechanicsville. Deputies say Bibbs was driving on the Mechanicsville Turnpike when the car ran off the road and flipped before coming to rest on its wheels.

Investigators say Branche was found dead in the car with a gunshot wound to her head.
