DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a man fatally shot on the east side of Des Moines.

Officers who were sent to the scene in a parking lot about 6 p.m. Thursday found the man with several wounds. Sgt. Paul Parizek says the man died after being taken to a hospital.

Police identified him Friday as 41-year-old James Patton, who lived in Des Moines.

Investigators think the shooter and Patton knew each other. No arrests have been reported.
