MANDAN, N.D. (AP) - A Mandan man accused of causing a fatal crash in June while driving under the influence of illegal drugs has pleaded not guilty to criminal vehicular homicide.

Thirty-five-year-old Ryan Riveland is charged in the death of 83-year-old New Salem resident Robert Slavick. He also faces charges of driving under the influence and possessing marijuana and methamphetamine.

Authorities allege that Riveland rear-ended Slavick’s vehicle on Old Highway 10, sending it into a steep ravine.

The Bismarck Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2agngc3 ) that Riveland is scheduled for a four-day trial beginning Oct. 25.
